While a slew of factory teams have already booked accommodation on the island of Sardinia and are looking ahead to the opening round of the Italian Championship at Riola Sardo for their first race action of 2015 Hitachi Construction Machinery Revo KTM UK’s Shaun Simpson also has his training, testing and ‘warm-up’ programme in place.
The Scot is likely to head to southern Spain in the first month of the year in search of pleasant weather conditions and a friendly climate for riding and motos at the Moto España 365 facility near Murcia. The same month will be crucial for WP Performance System suspension tests with Shaun’s brother, Stefan, lending his expertise in the field. The MXGP faction of the British Championship winning team will probably decamp for a series of days in the Belgian sand of Lommel to put the 2015 450SX-F KTM through its initial paces.
As February draws near Simpson will eschew the three Italian Championship fixtures and has instead committed to Internationals at Hawkstone Park, Valence and LaCapelle (the latter two both in France) before the opening Grand Prix of eighteen takes place at Losail in Qatar on the 28th of the month.
