Rain and shine at Kegums and the site of the 2014 Motocross of Nations for the 2015 Grand Prix of Latvia. Round twelve of eighteen of MXGP for Shaun started in reasonably decent fashion with a run to ninth position in the qualification heat on Saturday.

The Scot tried to get a handle on the hard terrain that was also sandy and bumpy through fine soil in various sections and built his speed through the twenty minute sprint, in spite of a poor start.

“I tried a tactic around the first corner of cutting tight and on the inside and it didn’t really work,” the British Champion said. “The track was a bit weird. The junior classes had created some choppy bumps and it took some time to get going but I was really catching the guys in front by the end. Only being a heat race we just had twenty minutes, and with that extra time in the motos tomorrow I know it will be a different scenario. I really think two top fives will be do-able.”
