Small eyewear hitch for Shaun today in the Qualification Heat for the Grand Prix of Spain at a hot Talavera de la Reina after some rocky clumps of mud dislodged his lens and made riding and overtaking difficult around the hard-packed slopes. Seventeenth place was the best the British Champion could manage around a course that is tough for passing.

“Frustrating day. We had to sort out some suspension issues in the morning and then I couldn’t get a decent lap in during Timed Practice. The Qualification Heat was ‘done’ after the first lap by what is a freak occurrence but it can happen now and again. We know what we need to do tomorrow around here and if we can get out of the gate then we should be able to still bag some decent points.”
