I had been riding in Scotland for the first two and a half weeks and really enjoying the weather and track conditions, putting in some hard motos and enjoying down time with friends.

But as always i had to head south for the season, making a de-tour at the workshop to pick up my Mechanic Jordan before heading over the water to Belgium. We have had a good few days riding in the sand but we now plan to head even further south in to France to train and ride with my new team mate Arnaud Tonus.

Tracks should be in good fettle so we can put the Yamaha through its paces on the hard stuff.

After that i have an opening race in Lommel on the 12th February the week before Valence international in France on the 18-19th and then it will be back home to the UK for the Hawkstone Park International.

Its quite a busy 3 weeks but i feel that it will prepare me well as i have always preferred riding at a race, rather than practicing.

Simpson finds the way with Dyce Carriers

Britain’s leading off-road motorcycle racer in the premier class of the FIM Motocross World Championship, Shaun Simpson, will count on the support of haulage firm Dyce Carriers Limited in his quest for glory in the 2012 Grand Prix campaign, set to start in Holland on Easter Monday next April.

The Scot, British Champion in 2008, will be part of the formidable Monster Energy Yamaha team next season for what will be only his second year on 450cc machinery after moving up from the MX2 class at the end of 2010. The 24 year old approaches ’12 with renewed vigour after an arduous maiden term in the ultra competitive division. Simpson was however able to end 2011 as Belgian Champion and has set his sights firmly on improving his ranking of 15th in the world standings.

The busy six month, sixteen round calendar will involve far flung trips to the likes of Mexico, Brazil, Sweden and Russia as well as the four corners of Europe and Simpson’s new alliance with Dyce Carriers Ltd will assist the racer with his logistics and organisation.

“We’ll be clocking up the mileage next season with sixteen Grands Prix, one more than this year, and I’ll also be doing the eight rounds of the British Championship,” Simpson said. “So to have Dyce Carriers helping me out is a major bonus and I’m really happy they want to get involved in what will be a cool year. The Yamaha feels really quick, and I know I can do good things on this bike.”

Dyce Carriers Ltd has been established since 1973 and is based in Aberdeen, Scotland with two further depots in Fife and Dorset, England. The firm provides haulage and storage facilities.

DUNKIRK

DUNKIRK BEACH RACE 20.11.11

Sunday the 20th of November saw the 15th Edition of La Ronde des Sables at Loon Plage Dunkirk, where the 23 Year old Scot made the short trip across the channel to compete in one of the many tough Beach race events at this time of year and came away with a solid Podium spot, finishing 3rd.

After making an average start in the top 10, Simpson made his way to the front of the field and took the lead for 2 laps before stopping on the 40 minute mark to Re-fuel. Time would tell that the 8 litre fuel tank would not be sufficient enough to finish the race after 3 pit stops so he was forced to pit one more time costing valuable seconds. Simpson battled on but couldnt make up the lost ground by the end.

Eventualy after only 3 stops Adrien Van Beveren and Jean-Claude Mousse beat Simpson to the flag. ' It was a great day for racing, the competition was tough and the pace was high. I have enjoyed every minute of the race but i am slightly dissapointed that we didnt have a larger fuel tank as i think i had the pace to win. All the same im happy with the podium and its been a great first outing on the Yamaha'. Simpson concluded.
